In the world there are lots of dogs. Some of them are mean, some are friendly and some of them are friendly most of the time. Dogs are better then cats because you can play with them and they don’t scratch. But, they don’t come back when you let them out.

Here are some golden retriever pups and an adult.

On Tuesday 11th November the year threes and fours went on a football tournament at Spalding Sir John Gleed school.

When we got there, we walked across a whole field to find a place to put our things that was near to our pitch.

The first four games were seven minutes one way then the last four were five minutes one way. Our first game was against St Barts’ A and we won 1-0 with a comfortable scoreline. At  eleven o’clock we had a two minute silence. After that, we played against Holbeach St Marks and claimed our biggest win when we won 5-0 with Calum M scoring twice, Jake scoring twice and also Max scoring once.

“I felt happy that we won 5-0 although I spent the whole game on the substitute’s bench,” said Callum H.

In the third game, we beat Moulton Chapel and Callum H scored the winning goal.

Game number four was played against St Barts B. Callum M scored three and Charlie scored one, resulting in a 4-0 win.

In our fifth game, we were vs St Barts A again. This time, Jake scored one, Callum M scored one and Max scored a penalty.

Game six was vs HSM and we drew 0-0. “I was disappointed because we could have scored but we didn’t have a lot  of opportunities and they had a  fantastic goalkeeper,” said Callum M.

In game seven we beat Moulton Chapel again, this time 2-0. Callum M scored once and Jake scored once.

Our last game was against St Barts B again and, this time, we won 4-0. Jack scored once, Callum M scored once, Callum H scored once and Max scored once.

We scored TWENTY goals altogether. Callum M scored 8 of them. Jake scored 5. Max scored 3. Callum H scored 2. Charlie and Jack scored one each.

The team agreed that Jake should be Man of the Tournament because he scored a difficult corner and played well throughout every game.

Banger Racing

Banger racing is a type of racing where cars can bang into in each other on purpose. They are not allowed to bang head to head. In a Destruction Derby, the last working car is the winner.

About the track

The track is oval shaped. The cars have to do about four laps before they can cross the finish line. But as well as trying to come first, the drivers have to dodge the other cars which are trying to bang them off into the barriers. A tractor picks up the remains of the cars and also it comes round with a water sprayer.

Safety control

If there was a crash, people in orange costumes will run onto the track and an ambulance might come. If the drivers are lucky, the orange safety people will help the driver to get out the car. The spectators are protected by a metal fence taller than a ceiling.

We love banger racing because we think it’s fun to watch and we like seeing our favourite cars win. Robin reliants are funny because they roll almost every corner.

Minions: the movie

This BlogSpot comes to you from Callum H and Jacob R

Minions are small, yellow humanoids. They have existed since the beginning of time, and have only one purpose: to help the world’s villains.

After accidently destroying all their masters, including a T-Rex, Ghengis Khan, Dracula and Napoleon, they decided to isolate themselves from the world and start a new life in Antarctica.

Sometime in the 1960s, the lack of master drove them into depression, so Kevin came up with a plan to find a new one. Joined by teenage rebels, Stuart and Little Bob, they arrived at a villain convention where they compete for the right to be henchman for Scarlett Overkill, a stylish and ambitious villain, who is determined to dominate the world and become the first female supervillain. Travelling through New York City, they ended up in London, where they needed to confront a threat that wants to eliminate all minions.

Football!

Posted by gedneydroveend | Posted in Max | Posted on November 20, 2014

The football team has eleven players on each team and they take seven substitutes and they use three. The exception is, if it is an international game, they take eleven subs and use five. At the start of the match, one of the teams get to have kick off. This is where two players from the same team face each other and one of the players kicks it to the other players.

Position!

When you’re in goal, you have to stop the football from going in the net. But, the football has to get past the defenders. The defenders’ job is to stop the ball from going in the goal. If the defenders get the ball, they would skill the strikers and pass it to the players in mid field. The midfield help the defence and strikers. The strikers try to score in the other team’s goal.

Referees!

Referees are the people that book players that slidetackle and push people. The linesmen tell the ref if the players are off side. When the ball goes in the goal the linesmen tell the ref if it has passed the line. These are very important jobs.

Christmas!

Christmas is a time to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Also, if you’re outstanding, you might get presents from Santa.

Santa is a big bearded man. There are 3.2 million elves who help Santa. Some wrap presents, some locate houses and the rest talk to Santa (Father Christmas)

If, however you are naughty enough to not get presents, then next year you will have to try even harder and try to get presents.
I hope you get a present from Santa.

We are going to tell you some VolleyBall rules.

1. If you put the ball on the floor on your opponents side of the net it is considered as in-bounds.

2. An error (forced or unforced) by your opponent, which means they are not able to return the ball over the net, will win you a point.

These were a few tips about volley ball.

Thank you for reading. Volley ball was written by Natasha and Ellie.

Today’s BlogSpot is brought to you by Lani and Jacob.

Our school is very fun . It was built in the Victorian times (1901)and has loads of books to choose from and very interesting lessons. Here is what people think:

Miss West (class three’s teacher) thinks that this is the best school she has ever worked in. To improve this school, she thinks that we could have a hall.

Mrs Cole (teaching assistant in class 3) says that this school fantastic and needs no improvement .

Mr Timmins (class two teacher ) thinks that this school is good quality and the children work together . As well as that, we may consider more sports for the children.

Mrs Hubbard (class 1 teacher ) says that the kitchen could be bigger but is brilliant anyway .

Mrs O’Reilly (teaching assistant) thinks that we do lots and lots and also that we need no improvement.

Mrs Hodge (teaching assistant ) says that she loves this school; she thinks it’s amazing and is already perfect.

Mrs Bills (helper) thinks that this school is wonderful and all the things that she wanted in the past have already happened.

Paige (year 6) says that this school is enjoyable but could be bigger .

Shane (year 6) says that it is 9/10 because, for him, the dinners are a bit dodgey .

Sam (year 6) says that it is the dinners that let him down. Also the bathrooms a bit manky. It is 9/10.

Natasha (year 6) says that it would obviously be as brilliant as 9/10 . There could be a VIP seat for the year sixes.

Everyone likes this school. Do you?

You can also find health potions. In hard mode you have different weapons: excaliber, mega shark, hallowed repeter and- eventually- THE TERRA BLADE.

How Does the Internet Work?

0

Posted by gedneydroveend | Posted in Past pupils | Posted on November 15, 2014

This week, we have been learning how to explain complicated ideas and the children were challenged to write an explanation of how the internet works. Miss West was pretty impressed with Sam’s explanation, but what do you think?

If you want to find out how the internet works then read on.

Firstly, the term internet is a shortened form of the two words interconnected and network. Networks are things that are connected together. They include railway stations, the National Grid, and the network nerve cells found in your brain.

A computer network could consist of multiple amounts of computers connected by a wire so that data can pass between them. Did you know that the simplest example of a computer network is actually two computers connected by a wire? If you double that amount of computers, you would have created an interconnected network. But, if you are looking in reality, the internet is made up of billions of people throughout the world. So, if a selfie is taken in Mexico, it might just appear on someone’s laptop.

How this happens is you will need to know three key things: rules for packaging data, interconnected network and the route for the data to send across the internet. The set of rules that most of you might know is hypertext transfer protocol (http).

The first step of the procedure is that your iPhone, laptop or device needs to connect to something called point of presence, also known as POP, which will allow your device to connect to its ISP. Then it will connect to the network access point (NAP) and then your NAP will connect all throughout the world which goes through an ultra-fast network called the internet backbone. These can also be sorted like in post offices which is POP and that is local or sorting offices which is NAP and that is national.

But is your data properly transmitted? Data is travelled in small pieces so that it travels faster and lag free. All the data is packaged up and sent with a pack of instructions to help reassemble. For example, if your grandma’s mosaic was sent in the post you would cut it into smaller pieces and send it with a pack of instructions but, rather than your data going through the post, it is sent from your computer to your ISP’s POP and then the internet.

The address that has been written on as an IP address is sent to the routers and they send it to a computer.

So, hopefully, you should know how the internet works.

To raise money for Children in Need (and have some fun) the children came to school dressed as superheroes!

They presented their characters to the class, and the winners were picked- although it was a tough decision!

Best Original Costume: Callum H

IMG_3186Today I am dressed as an original superhero who I made up: Captain Remote Control. My superpowers include pausing, fast-forwarding and rewinding people. I can also tell people what’s on the telly by using my TV guide. Even more exciting, when fighting evil, I can call for back up by pressing “Back Up”.

Runner-up Best Original Costume: John

IMG_3187Today I am dressed as a Ninja Chihuahua. My superpowers include danger swipe and super jump.

Best Costume (established character): Lani

IMG_3188Today I am dressed as Supergirl. My superpowers include being able to fly. I always try to keep my powers to myself but this is what I do: when Superman is in trouble, I save him. I am his sidekick and I always get on with him because he is my distant cousin and he is a bit more powerful than me- but who cares? I am still a superheroine. I still save Superman so I am still as important as Superman!

Altogether, the children and families of Gedney Drove End raised over £70 today, to help Children in Need. Well done, everyone!
