When I Grow Up…

3

When I grow up, I want to be a footballer and play for Manchester United and be the best player in the world. How fantastic it would be to play on Old Trafford and score lots of goals! If I wouldn’t be able to play for Man. United, I would be happy playing for Peterborough United, Cambridge or Holbeach United.

Sometimes I have lots of ideas- like being a policeman on a horse! My horse would be a big chestnut horse called Fudge. He would stand outside football stadiums controlling the crowd with me riding him.

I have a dream of becoming a show jumper like John Whitaker, riding at the big shows like Olympia and Hickstead. I would want to jump over those huge, massive fences. Then, one day, I might go on to the Olympics and win a gold medal.

Resistance training on our sword-wielding arms

The children were thrilled to be accepted into Gladiator School, and devised a training regime to ensure they had strength, speed and stamina in the arena.

We tested the regimes and evaluated how effective they were in making us fit, strong and ready for battle!

Last year, Class 3 chose “Truckers” by Terry Pratchett as their class novel. We really enjoyed it and Miss West was very happy that many of the children continued reading the rest of the Bromeliad trilogy. Terry Pratchett is Miss West’s favourite author because his books are so clever, funny and thought-provoking.

Tomorrow would have been Sir Terry Pratchett’s 67th birthday. All over the world, fans (including Miss West) will be wearing black hats in remembrance.

Natasha wrote this beautiful message for Terry which, through the magic of Twitter, Miss West was able to share with Terry’s daughter, Rhianna.

Five Top Football Players

1. Ruddy is good in a way because he can save lots of goals. A goalkeeper can’t pick the ball up if a defender passes the ball back to him.

2. Gerard is captain of Liverpool FC, who is soon getting sold to another team so he doesn’t play for Liverpool anymore. The captain positions the players where they are supposed to be on the pitch.

3. Rooney is an upfront player that scores a lot of goals. He has a good pace and he can shoot with a powerful kick. An upfront player tells his team-mates where they need to be during play and gives instructions as to marking, corners and throw ons.

4. Gibbs is a defender of Arsenal. He has to make sure he saves the ball so they don’t have agood opportunity of scoring by kicking it away from the goal.

5. Lampard is midfielder for Chelsea. He has to help the defenders by not letting the other team have the ball. He can score from anywhere on the pitch.

Not one but two this week! Well done to Finley and Jacob C!

We know it’s cheating slightly, but both boys have shown such enthusiasm for our Roman topic, and written superbly in character as a soldier or general, that we simply couldn’t choose between them! Well done, boys!

Why I Love Cycling

2

Posted by gedneydroveend | Posted in Johnny | Posted on April 15, 2015

I love cycling because it’s a sport for all the family. It’s good for you and it’s fun! You can even do racing on the awesome tracks.

A tip for all the racers out there: you have to stay on the wheel of the bike in front of you (or the sides, depending on the wind) until the bell rings and then you can sprint off and time trial it to the end of the race.

Fixing bikes

I love bikes because they do not take long to build. Let’s say it takes three days, including the paint- that’s not long at all and then you be off riding!

And that’s why I love cycling.
