Congratulations (and a big thank you) to Jacob, our Star of the Week!
Jacob has worked hard all term, and is always polite, kind and helpful. He excelled himself yesterday at our Roman banquet, where he performed his slave duties diligently and with a huge smile! Thanks, Jacob- and well done for this term!

To celebrate the end of this term’s topic, the children chose to host a Roman banquet.
Years 4 and 5 planned it carefully while Year 6 were busy taking their SATs. They designed the invitations, chose the menu, made decorations, organised entertainment and created prizes and souvenirs for all the guests. They were very busy and did a fantastic job!
On the morning of the banquet, we also made bread to eat as one of the (many) courses.
The banquet started with some entertainment, which definitely helped us work up an appetite!
The food, contributed by the children and their kind parents, was stunning.
After all that, it was time for a little rest…
Everyone had a fantastic time! Class 3 would like to thank all the grown ups who provided the food and drink we enjoyed today. We really do appreciate the effort you made 🙂

Our Year 4 children were invited to take part in a special celebration of the story of Noah.
They explored the story through art, drama, dance and music- and everyone had a wonderful time!

David Edward Walliams, known as David Walliams, is an English comedian, actor, television presenter and judge. He is known by some children and most adults for being on Little Britain. He was born on 20th August 1971.
My favourite author is the humorous David Walliams, because his books are horrendously amazing. He’s a really talented man with a great sense of humour.
My favourite book is Gangsta Granny because it was the first book I read of his. I especially like this book because of the relationship between Gangsta Granny and her grandson. He also has six more books that he has written: Boy in the Dress, Mr Stink, Billionaire Boy, Awful Auntie, Rat Burger and Demon Dentist. These books are very good but not as brilliant as Gangsta Granny. He’s sold over four million books.
David Walliams, not long ago, pressed the golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent. The golden buzzer act was Lorraine Bowen and her crumble song. It was quite funny. Crazy, he is the number one judge on Britain’s Got Talent. As well as that, he is the award winning, best judge on the Brit Awards.
David Walliams, the life-changing man, swam in the Thames for Sportsrelief, the charity event. He swam along 140 miles of the Thames. Hundreds of people cheered the star on as he began his challenge in the Gloucestershire town – where the waters temperature was 15 degrees, currently colder than the English Channel. David Walliams was given a special award in recognition of his sporting efforts for charity.
Some people may agree that David Walliams is fantastic at nearly everything (not everything). This text is why David Walliams is my favourite author:-
I really like David Edward Walliams because he’s one of the best authors ever, I think.

Tom was a mysterious boy who liked to explore. One strange day, Tom was in the car with his mum driving to his Nan’s house.
The road was long with tall hedges either side. His eye spotted a hill but they kept on going. Suddenly, he asked, “Why are we going anyway? You said you hated them, didn’t you?”
“Hate them? I don’t hate them- I just don’t understand them sometimes! We do what we do.”
So little Tom was confused. He just looked out of his window as they passed house after house until they came to his Nan’s house.
Tom’s mum said, “Stop there while I ask your Nan about…” and then she left. Without a single moment’s thought he ran to listen but then he heard a mouse coming from a hill in their garden. It had an arched door. Quickly, he peered in only to find a tube of purple liquid. Near to him was a control panel and a movable platform on beds. Tom heard his mum’s voice so he ran to the car at the speed of light. Luckily, he was in time so she didn’t know he had been in the garden or hill. To his surprise, mum came out laughing. On the way home Tom could not help but think about the laboratory he had seen in his Nan’s garden.
When they got down the end of the road, they heard an explosion. They rushed back- only to find the house opposite exploded and the remains ablaze. Mum told Tom not to panic and said that it would be alright.
The next day, Tom was sent to his Nan and Granddad’s house again. Mum left without a trace- not a single word! Tom went out to play when, suddenly, he saw a tail and went to follow it.
Once he was round the hill, the great big showed a row of lethal fangs… The thing was blue, with green spikes, and it stood upright, with two bulky arms and knife-like claws. Feeling scared, Tom ran to his mum’s car (which had only just arrived).
He asked, “Where is Nan?”
“In the garden- why?”
“Arrrr!”
Tom has now come to the conclusion and who would have thought it?
His grandparents are aliens!
Our Lunchtime Leaders do a fabulous job!
As a reward for all their hard work, they can earn House points, which count towards their House’s total and might win them an end of term treat!

Sadly, the theme we originally chose for our blog is being retired shortly, so Miss West has decided to try out a brand new one.
What do you think? Should we keep this one?
In the comments, let us know your thoughts on:
-if the theme is appealing (nice to look at)
-if the page is easy to navigate (can you find everything easily?)
-if the theme reflects our class and our school

If I were Prime Minister
By Jacob C
The Year 5 Cheeky Chappie Party
If I was elected Prime Minister in the 2015 General Election campaign, I would endeavor to do the following tasks to make Great Britain a better and more productive place to be. This will be no easy task but I feel strongly about my beliefs and will do all I can to get them done.
I would begin a total ban on Smoking. It is proven that Smoking Kills, and treatment for related illnesses like Lung Cancer costs the Country Millions of pounds every year, which could be spent on things like a cure for the other types of Cancer. A lot of money is raised every year from Tobacco in taxes, but you don’t pay taxes if you are too ill to work or even worse, Dead !!!..
In areas of high unemployment, I would secure land and build factories on it which could produce Items that we normally import like Toys, Clothes, Electrical items etc…. People who are Unemployed in the locality would be offered training to do the jobs required and, if they refused the work or didn’t turn up on time, they would lose their Benefits. I would make sure that people would always be better off at work, than out of it. This way there can be no excuses. Any profit from the products would go into the economy to be spent in other areas like the NHS and caring for the Elderly and disabled.
For the long term unemployed who wish to start their own business, I would offer a small Grant of up to ÂŁ3000 to start a small business. I would offer a complete package of Advice, Help, Security for them, along with Future Financial benefits like low interest loans and Mortgages on Business properties. This would be after a thorough examination of the business plan proposed to make sure that the Idea is viable.
As we all know, Housing is very expensive, and getting a Mortgage can be difficult these days. I propose a return to the 5% deposit loan and far more stringent checks to make sure people can afford to buy in the first place. This will reduce repossessions and help keep the housing market stable to avoid the boom and bust scenario of the noughties. I would also restrict buy to let ownership to 3 properties. This will ensure a good supply of First time buyer properties which are usually the Cheaper houses on sale. A good housing Market always provides a good economy as lots of trades rely on it like Builders, Electricians, Plumbers etc.. This will create more jobs which means more taxes.
I would also stop Holiday companies putting up prices when the Kids are off school, as it makes it very difficult for mums and dads to afford nice breaks, especially if they have 2 or 3 children. This forces Parents to go on Holiday in Term time which affects the education which is received and also leads to fines for doing so.
These are my main goals if I were to become Prime Minister and I really think that they could help Britain grow into a strong Economy with low unemployment and an Excellent Health Service. There are lots of other exciting Ideas I have, all of which would only benefit the country.
A Vote for anyone else would be a wasted Vote !!!
